CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) – A Camden County man is facing serious charges in connection with a road rage incident Monday night.

The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office received a call around 8 p.m. on Feb. 17 about shots being fired on US-168 near Snowden Road.

Deputies responded to the caller’s location and found their vehicle in the turn lane. It had multiple bullet holes in the driver’s side door and front bumper.

The investigation into this incident led to 32-year-old Frederick Tharrington III being identified as a suspect. He was located at his home in Camden. With the assistance of the Camden County Sheriff’s Office, Tharrington III was charged with felony discharge of a weapon in an occupied vehicle, Misd. assault with a deadly weapon, and reckless driving. He was given a $7,500 secured bond at the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office detention facility.

The other person involved was charged with DWI, with bond set at $2,000. The Sheriff’s Office did not provide that person’s name. WAVY has reached out for more information including whether or not there were any injuries reported.
