The Cape Hatteras Elementary School (CHES) and Cape Hatteras Secondary School (CHSS) recently received a grant of chess sets, a Chess-Steps instructor’s guide and student workbooks, and ChessKid Gold accounts from the North Carolina-based Indermaur Chess Foundation.

The Indermaur Chess Foundation is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and U.S. Chess Federation Affiliate that helps parents, teachers, and volunteers start chess clubs in North Carolina schools, libraries, and community centers. The organization was contacted by CHES’ Jenn Augustson, and through its Game Changer Program, the Foundation hopes to help 100 North Carolina schools and community organizations start new chess clubs.
