The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce was proud to host a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, October 15, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Outer Banks Relief Foundation, which has supported local families in need for two decades.
The event took place at the Glenmere Avenue Beach Access in Kill Devil Hills, adopted by the Relief Foundation through the Surfrider Foundation, and home to the Little Red Mailbox of Hope—a symbol of comfort and community.
Founded in 2005, the Relief Foundation has provided financial assistance to hundreds of local families facing serious illness or tragedy. The organization collaborates closely with local partners, including Interfaith Community Outreach, Dare County Health and Human Services, and Outer Banks Health, and was recently named the Albemarle Area United Way’s 2025 Partner Agency of the Year.
“The Relief Foundation represents the heart of the Outer Banks—community, compassion, and connection,” said Nick Graham, Chairman of the Outer Banks Chamber Board of Directors. “We’re honored to celebrate this milestone alongside them.”
The Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce, representing nearly 900 businesses and organizations, serves Dare and Currituck Counties and Ocracoke. As the area’s largest business advocacy organization, the Chamber works to strengthen and promote the economic vitality of the Outer Banks region through leadership, education, advocacy, and member growth.
