After observing smoke inside Cape Hatteras National Seashore’s Bodie Island Double Keepers’ Quarters, staff from Eastern National, the operator of the building’s retail store, called 911 at around noon on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
All occupants safely exited the building, states a media release from the National Park Service.
Upon arriving at the Bodie Island Light Station, the Nags Head Fire Department reported seeing smoke coming from the building’s four chimneys. The fire was extinguished with no reported injuries.
