Seven Dare County students placed in the top 10 in their divisions at the North Carolina State Math Contest, following strong performances at the regional competition.
Ten regional finalists from First Flight Middle, First Flight High, Manteo Middle, and Manteo High School competed in Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 contests at Fayetteville State University on April 30. Four additional students from Cape Hatteras Secondary and Manteo High also advanced to the Comprehensive Contest, held April 24 at the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics in Durham.
All 14 students represented Dare County Schools with distinction, performing at a high level during both events. Dare County Schools celebrates the mathletes’ hard work, talent and determination and would like to thank the dedicated coaches and families who supported them.

About the North Carolina State Math Contest
Since its launch in 1979, the North Carolina State Math Contest, sponsored by the North Carolina Council of Teachers of Mathematics, has provided students with a challenging and prestigious platform to demonstrate their problem-solving skills across four divisions: Level 1, Level 2, Level 3 and Comprehensive.
