CURRITUCK, N.C. (WAVY) — A man who was previously arrested after fentanyl and methamphetamine were found during a search is now facing a death by distribution charge.
According to officials, nearly a year ago, on April 26, the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to Taylors Road for reports of an overdose death. Troopers arrived to the scene and found Raven Massey dead.
After an investigation, on Monday, April 14, 63-year-old James Edward Hasty was arrested in connection with the overdose death of Massey. Hasty was charged with death by distribution.
Hasty was previously arrested in March of 2025 after a search of his residence lead to the seizure of fentanyl and methamphetamine.
Hasty is currently being held at the Currituck County Jail with no bond.
