DARE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — The suspect in a Dare County hit-and-run incident has been identified as 35-year-old James Barber, but deputies said they are still searching for him.

The incident occurred on Aug. 7 in a Dare County Justice Center parking lot in Manteo. Around 9:45 a.m., a Ford truck struck a parked Chevrolet Tahoe. Following the incident, the driver parked in another area of the lot, exited the vehicle and walked around before leaving the scene without reporting it.

A warrant has been issued for Barber’s arrest, charging him with misdemeanor hit-and-run.
