The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation (HICF) was thrilled to receive a recent $10,000 donation from local property management and real estate company, Surf or Sound Realty.
The check was presented to members of the HICF by Surf or Sound personnel at the Surf or Sound Realty office in Avon on Thursday, November 9.
Founded in the year 2000, the HICF provides assistance to local residents dealing with cancer to help with needs such as travel expenses, prescriptions, and medical supplies, as well as medical bills that are not covered by insurance.
Since its inception, the HICF has assisted hundreds of islanders with cancer and their families with grants in excess of $1,000,000.
Surf or Sound Realty is a locally owned and operated premier property management and real estate sales company that has been in business since 1978 and has offices in Salvo, Avon, and Hatteras Village.
“We are delighted with this donation, and it will go a long way in maintaining our continual mission to help our local families who are dealing with cancer,” said HICF representatives in a statement.
