The 11th Annual OBX Tourism Summit is set to deliver a full day of insights, networking opportunities, and forward-thinking strategies for Outer Banks tourism professionals.
This year’s agenda features updates on the region’s long-range tourism management plan and voluntourism hub, a look at new marketing initiatives, an AI-focused session on working smarter and enhancing guest experiences, and a forward-looking forecast for the year ahead. Attendees will also have multiple opportunities to connect with colleagues over breakfast, lunch, and interactive sessions designed to strengthen their role in the local tourism industry.
A key highlight of the program will be the presentation by Matt Clement, Executive Vice President at Madden Media, who will lead the session “Beyond the Hype: A Practical Playbook for Leveraging AI in Tourism.”
In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, AI literacy is increasingly essential. Clement will outline a practical framework for integrating both mainstream tools and specialized AI platforms into daily tourism operations—whether managing accommodations, running attractions, planning events, or marketing experiences. His session will explore how AI can streamline workflows, improve guest experiences, increase efficiency, and help future-proof tourism businesses.
Clement brings more than 15 years of tourism industry experience, including work with multiple destination marketing organizations (DMOs). He currently serves on the board of the California Travel Association and earned his Certified Destination Management Executive certification in 2013. He is based in Fort Worth, Texas.
