N.C. Department of Transportation crews will be briefly closing a section of N.C. 12 in Rodanthe early Tuesday morning to remove an unused overhead sign structure.

The sign, at the intersection of N.C. Highway 12 and Trade Winds Drive, will be removed Sept. 17 beginning at 5:30 a.m., weather permitting. While the work is underway, traffic on N.C. 12 will be stopped in both directions.

There is no detour for this closure, which is expected to last about 20 minutes. Motorists planning to travel during those hours are advised to be aware of the closure and plan accordingly.

For real-time travel information, visit DriveNC.gov or follow NCDOT on social media.
