The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) recently made a $500 donation to the Hatteras Island Rescue Squad, an all-volunteer, non-profit organization that provides rescue and emergency services on the southern Outer Banks.
The HIRS is a familiar presence on the beaches of southern Hatteras Island during the summer months, as the roughly 30-member volunteer team routinely patrols the shoreline from Memorial Day until Labor Day, and conducts hundreds of water rescues every year.
The NCBBA is a non-profit organization established in 1964 which is dedicated to the preservation of, and vehicular access to, the natural beach resources of the Outer Banks through conservation, a code of ethics for beach behavior, and by supporting local, state, federal officials, and other organizations dedicated to these same goals.
The NCBBA also regularly donates and contributes to organizations that serve the Hatteras Island community.
“NCBBA continues to support local first responders through various fundraisers, including the Red Drum Tournament,” said NCBBA Director Mike Regan.
For more information on the NCBBA, including early details on the 2025 Red Drum Tournament in October, visit the organization’s website at https://www.ncbba.org/, or their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/ncbba.
