A flock of northern pintails (Anas acuta) are among the birds wintering on Alligator River National Wildlife Refuge.
Northern pintails are ducks that travel to the area along the Atlantic Flyway from northern Canada, Newfoundland and Labrador. They are omnivores, eating plants, grains, seeds, insects, worms and a variety of crustaceans.
The Manteo Office for the Coastal NC National Wildlife Refuges Complex is staffed for emergency calls and general information. Reach them at 252-473-1131 Ext 224 or firstname.lastname@example.org for information about all refuges in eastern North Carolina.Add to favorites
