With the assistance of Tavern on 12, the non-profit organization Hatteras Island Meals will be hosting a fundraising concert on Friday, November 24, at the Hatteras Village Civic Center featuring the award-winning Songs From The Road Band.
Based in Asheville, NC, Songs From The Road Band is a nationally recognized bluegrass supergroup featuring Mark Schimick (mandolin), Charles Humphrey III (bass), Sam Wharton (guitar), James Schlender (fiddle), and Gabe Epstein (banjo). The band takes flight with virtuosic picking, singing, and Grammy-award-winning songwriting.
Several of their most recent singles have gone to the top of the Bluegrass Today Grassicana chart, and they have six studio albums under their belt.
The Hatteras-based event is from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday and a handful of tickets are still available at Tavern on 12 for $30 per ticket. A limited number of tickets will also be available at the door on the night of the event as well.
Tavern on 12 will provide a buffet, which is included in the ticket price, and all proceeds will benefit Hatteras Island Meals (HIM).
“Please come out and support this fun event,” stated HIM in an online update. “We so appreciate Tavern on 12 and the Songs From The Road Band for supporting Hatteras Island Meals.”
HIM is a longstanding and all-volunteer organization on Hatteras Island that provides nutritious meals to elderly or homebound island residents. The nonprofit began in 1987 as an informal endeavor – where locals prepared meals for their neighbors – and today it has grown to include around 40 volunteers and approximately 50 clients from Rodanthe to Hatteras village.
For more information on HIM, including volunteer or donation opportunities, visit Hatteras Island Meal’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/HatterasIslandMeals or email email@example.com.
