UPDATE: All Ocracoke Island ferry operations have resumed their normal schedules as of 8:00 a.m. on Friday, August 9.

The Ocracoke-mainland ferry operations have been suspended for Thursday afternoon, August 8, due to inclement weather from Tropical Storm Debby. All Swan Quarter-Ocracoke and Cedar Island-Ocracoke departures for Thursday afternoon and evening have been canceled.

The Hatteras-Ocracoke passenger ferry is also suspending operations for Thursday, starting at 4:00 p.m.

The Hatteras-Ocracoke vehicular ferry service is still running, however, minor ocean overwash was reported on N.C. Highway 12 on northern Ocracoke Island with Thursday morning’s 11:00 a.m. high tide, and saltwater and sand remain on the roadway. Caution is advised.

Ocracoke-mainland ferry service will resume once weather conditions improve.

“If you had a reservation, we will process it with a refund,” stated the NC Ferry Division in an update. “If you have any questions or for more information, please call 1-800-293-3779.”
