A low pressure system is expected to slowly track off the Carolina coast Friday, Jan. 8.
The system is forecast to bring rain Friday. A rain/snow mix for inland areas mainly along and north of Highway 70 is expected overnight into Saturday morning.
The National Weather Service says snowfall accumulation should be light, about a half inch, and confined to grassy areas. Roads should remain wet.
Increasing northeast winds on Friday could result in minor coastal flooding for southern Pamlico Sound and Neuse/Bay rivers.
