All Dare County offices and facilities will be closed on Monday, September 1, 2025, in observance of the Labor Day holiday. These offices and facilities will reopen and resume operating with their regularly scheduled hours on Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
The closures include the Dare County C&D Landfill, Manns Harbor Transfer Station, Buxton Transfer Station, and Manteo Recycle Yard; however, there will be no changes to Dare County Public Works’ trash collection schedule on Labor Day (Monday, September 1, 2025).
All areas whose services are provided by the Dare County Public Works Department—which includes the unincorporated areas of Dare County as well as the Town of Kitty Hawk—will therefore operate on their normal schedule during the week of Monday, September 1, 2025, through Friday, September 5, 2025.
Saturday Residential & Commercial Trash Collection
The Town of Kitty Hawk’s Saturday residential summer trash collection for the east side (ocean side) of the bypass will continue through Labor Day weekend and then conclude on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
Additionally, the Saturday commercial trash collection for the Town of Kitty Hawk—as well as the villages of Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, and Hatteras—will continue through Labor Day weekend and then conclude on Saturday, September 6, 2025.
