Hatteras Village will usher in the holiday season on Friday with the launch of the annual Hatteras Holiday Trail, marking the start of a full lineup of December events hosted by the Hatteras Village Civic Association.
Beginning November 29 and continuing through early January, visitors and residents are invited to explore the Holiday Trail, a glowing walkway just off Eagle Pass Road that transforms a quiet corner of the village into a festive, family-friendly light display. This year’s kickoff comes with a special guest: Mrs. Claus is rumored to be arriving early to make sure everything is ready for Santa’s mid-December visit. She’ll be staying at the Atlantic Inn and hosting a story time with cookies and s’mores from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. before families head out to enjoy the trail on Saturday night.
The month’s signature events continue on December 1 with the Hatteras Village Tree Lighting, held at 6 p.m. in the village center alongside the Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department. A free soup-and-salad takeout dinner at the community building follows the ceremony, welcoming all attendees to warm up and celebrate together.
Festivities pick up again on December 13, beginning with Breakfast with Santa at the Hatteras Civic Center from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m. Later that afternoon, at 2:00 p.m., the annual Hatteras Village Christmas Parade will roll through town, with a rain date set for December 14. After the parade, families can gather for cookies and hot chocolate at the Graveyard of the Atlantic Museum.
The season’s celebrations conclude on December 16, when Santa makes his official arrival in Hatteras Village. Riding with the Hatteras Volunteer Fire Department, Santa will make his way through the village before stopping to visit with children and families.
All events are hosted by the Hatteras Village Civic Association, which continues to expand holiday offerings each year to bring residents, visitors, and families together during one of the island’s most cherished seasons.
