HICF is seeking sponsors for annual 5k

The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation (HICF) is seeking sponsors for the HICF Donna Peele Memorial 5K race, which will be held in Avon at Sun Realty on October 11, 2025. The race will begin at 9 a.m., with registration starting at 8 a.m. Last year, the race was renamed in memory of Donna Peele, a dear friend and board member of the foundation, who lost her battle with cancer on October 14, 2023.

The following levels are available for sponsorship:

The Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation is an all-volunteer nonprofit organization that supports cancer patients and their families living on Hatteras Island. Founded in December 2000, the foundation’s primary mission is to raise funds for providing financial assistance with medical bills, prescriptions, and travel expenses. To date, the Hatteras Island Cancer Foundation has assisted over 240 islanders battling cancer and their families, with grants totaling more than $1,000,000. HICF also collaborates with other cancer resource organizations on the Outer Banks to offer additional services as needed.
