The Outer Banks Visitors Bureau is excited to announce the launch of Outer Banks Volunteer Week, taking place October 11-18, 2025. This initiative invites visitors, residents and second homeowners to connect more deeply with the community by volunteering with local organizations on a variety of projects and events.
Part of the Bureau’s expanding Voluntourism program, Volunteer Week aims to support local partners, promote off-season visitation to Dare County and highlight the ongoing work that goes into caring for and sustaining the Outer Banks.
“Outer Banks Volunteer Week is another example of how we’re continuing to strengthen our nonprofit and community partnerships, while connecting people to these organizations that are the heartbeat of our community,” notes Lee Nettles, Executive Director of the Outer Banks Visitors Bureau. “It’s our hope that visitors come away with a deeper appreciation for our area, while working alongside locals who are lending a hand to others in need.
