The N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles will open a new license plate agency (LPA) on Sept. 4 in Kitty Hawk.

The new agency is located at 3809 N. Croatan Hwy. (U.S. Hwy. 158), Unit F, at the Sea Dunes Shoppes, and will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, except on state holidays. The office will be operated by Josh Bass and Denise Hall. Also, the standard issue “OBX” plates will once again be available when the agency opens.

In North Carolina, NCDMV oversees LPAs, but the agencies are managed by private businesses or local governments.

LPAs offer vehicle registration services and title transactions, as well as vehicle license plate renewals, replacement tags, handicap placards and duplicate registrations. There are 130 license plate agencies operating across North Carolina.

Services such as property tax payments and registration renewals can also be completed online at NCDMV.gov.
