CURRITUCK COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — Currituck County rescinded the local state of emergency and mandatory evacuation order for the Off-Road Area of Corolla Friday afternoon.
The beach driving area, which is the only way in and out of the Off-Road Area, has become accessible to motorists. Some sections may be impassable or have limited driving lanes during high tides.
Motorists are advised to use caution at dune access ramps where erosion has happened.
Corolla Beach Rescue posted double red flags for ocean beaches as water entry is still not permitted.
The Carova Beach trash and recycling center has also reopened. Trash collection in the paved section of Corolla has been postponed until Monday, Aug. 25.
