BERTIE COUNTY, N.C. (WAVY) — A Suffolk man was arrested in connection with a shooting at a Lewiston Duck Thru on Sunday.

According to officials, just before 11 p.m. on July 20, deputies were dispatched to the Duck Thru, located in the 200 block of East Church Street, for reports of a person who had been shot.

Upon arrival to the scene, deputies found a man suffering from a gunshot wound to his right arm. The victim told deputies that, while in the parking lot of the Duck Thru, a dispute started between two men. Eventually, the suspect, later identified as 55-year-old Keith Tyrone Wynn, grabbed a firearm from his vehicle and began firing shots, one of which struck the victim.

Shortly afterwards, Wynn was arrested and charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

“Gun violence isn’t the solution to any problems. Gun violence happens too often in our County and at the end of the day, it’s not worth it,” Sheriff Tyrone M Ruffin said. “Once it’s done, it can’t be undone, you will have to face the consequences. My Office is working progressively to keep the citizens of Bertie County safe but incidents like these isn’t shakes our communities and makes the citizens feel uneasy. I’ve been very tough on drugs and violent crimes in Bertie and even though these incidents may be unpredictable, my team will continue take every effort to continue to reduce violent crimes.”
