KNOTTS ISLAND, N.C. (WAVY) — The woman accused in the death of a missing Virginia Beach man has pled guilty to concealment of a dead body and accessory after the fact.
According to officials, Ashley Walton, who was initially arrested in November of 2024 in connection to the disappearance of Martrell Andre Lamar, 42, who had last been seen July 2, 2024 in Knotts Island.
Despite Lamar’s remains not being found until December of 2024 in Pasquotank County, Walton was arrested and charged with concealment of a dead body and accessory after the fact after Virginia Beach police stated they were treating Lamar’s disappearance as a homicide investigation.
A second person, Antwaine Branch, 35, was also arrested and charged with concealment of a dead body in connection with the homicide of Lamar.
According to court documents, Lamar’s body was placed into Walton’s car and taken to Knotts Island. The vehicle was then found in Chesapeake on Nov. 13 with blood detected in the trunk. Walton, who had been Lamar’s girlfriend, stated the pair had gotten into an argument on July 2.
Walton is set to be sentenced on Nov. 10, 2025.
