A community health fair will be held at the Fessenden Center in Buxton on Thursday, December 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a wide range of free services and resources for Hatteras Island residents.
The event will feature free flu shots, on-site health screenings, medication disposal, and access to multiple local service providers. As in past events, the goal is to bring essential health and wellness support directly to the community in a single, convenient location.
Outer Banks Health will bring its wellness van to the event, providing free health screenings throughout the morning. Representatives from the Dare to Care Clinic, the Dementia Friendly Coalition, Dare County Social Services, Crisis Management Services, and the Dare County Library will also be available to answer questions and share information about their programs.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office will be on hand to accept unwanted prescription and over-the-counter medications for safe disposal.
Following the health fair, Outer Banks Health will host an on-site Lunch and Learn session focused on nutrition and healthy food choices. A free lunch will be provided, but space is limited to 10 participants, and advance registration is required. Attendees can sign up in person at the Fessenden Center lobby.
The health fair is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Fessenden Center at 252-475-5650 or visit DareNC.gov/Fessenden.
