Officials, leaders to discuss future of offshore exploration

Two voices from Carteret County are expected to join with officials, advocacy representatives and business leaders from across the nation to discuss the future of offshore oil and gas drilling.

Register online for the 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, webinar, National Business Coalition Roundtable: Protecting Our Coast and Creating a Thriving Clean Coastal Economy.

Beaufort Mayor Rett Newton and Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic Coast President Tom Kies, who also serves as president of the Carteret County Chamber of Commerce based in Morehead City, will join a Biden administration adviser to Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Rep. Mike Levin, D-Calif., and Sen. Ed Markey, D-Mass. on the webinar.

Also participating in the are Business Alliance for Protecting the Pacific Coast founding member Vipe Desai, Florida Gulf Coast Business Coalition Chair Robin Miller, Florida marina owner Capt. Dylan Hubbard, OCEANA Campaign Director Offshore Drilling Diane Hoskins, and OCEANA Massachusetts field representative Nancy Downes.

Business Alliance for Protecting the Atlantic, Oceana Massachusetts, Florida Gulf Coast Business Coalition and Business Alliance for Protecting the Pacific Coast are hosting the webinar.
